This video is my frustration with the Samsung Galaxy Note 20. This 1000 dollars flagship phone from Samsung's highest line-up has me scratching my head. Is it worth it? Should you buy it? The Note, is Samsung’s greatest flagship phone line-up. It takes pretty much everything from the S lineup with improvements and a pen. Let’s talk about the problems now that we realize that the Note is supposed to be the best. Back The back, which I won’t spend too much time on because it’s the least of my concerns. People want glass, but I would at least like to see a higher-grade aluminum finish. Samsung, if you believe polycarbonate, is the best material for your Note series, put it on the Ultra. If not, don’t make the Ultra an exception. Display There are so many things wrong with this display. Resolution & Refresh rate. The argument has to be made that higher refresh rate and resolution does drain the battery more than if it were lower, and that’s why it’s on the Ultra. I’ll start off by saying I agree, but the user has a choice of what they want to use and can scale back if they don’t want a higher refresh rate or higher resolution. It’s not like Samsung lets us use the highest resolution and highest refresh rate anyway. But regardless, if you think Gorilla Glass 5, 1080p, 60Hz is the best for your Note series, Don’t make the Ultra an exception. Specs Now normally I don’t focus on specs and you may ask yourself “Well it has the Snapdragon 865 plus, what’s there to complain about”. I’ll tell you what, I’m thankful that I’m able to get the Snapdragon, BUT the rest of the world should. The Ultra still comes with the Exynos overseas, but that doesn’t matter. The Snapdragon 865 plus is the better chip and until your Exynos is comparable the same performance & battery life of the Snapdragon, it should not be in your Note series. Expandable storage, this was something I always thought was a luxury for android users being an iPhone user. It’s on the Ultra why not the regular Note 20? For people saying, “I don’t need that extra storage”, just like the display you have the option to use it or not. But regardless, Samsung, if you think not having expandable storage is best for your Note series. The pen! You want to talk about lower latency, prediction of where the pen will be, a smoother writing experience, and then drop, “Oh, by the way, Ultra only”. What? I’m not even a hardcore Note enthusiast but that’s a straight-up insult. The pen is often the selling point for the Note, and to tell me, that I am getting a worse user experience and it’s being gatekept by an “Ultra” version, is unfair to the consumer. Don’t make the Ultra an exception. Price & Lineup 1000 dollars and it’s a Note. Like I said in my unboxing, this phone feels like it should be around 700 dollars, people are going as low as 500 dollars, that’s a bit low. Now, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m confused at this entire naming convention Samsung has for their phones and their lineup. One year we have regular, and plus. Then we have regular, plus, and lite. Now it’s just regular and Ultra. Can we just stick with one and move forward instead of flip-flopping each year? Regardless, this is a Note. The top of the line Android phone that your competitors want to emulate. At this price point and calling it a Note, makes no sense at all. I don’t even know if this can be considered above your S series. I don’t know if you thought it would be better for the consumer to get a cheaper version, which I understand, but you can’t do that to your premium line up.
