In this National Library of Scotland recorded talk, Dr. Leith Davis examines the context and content of the manuscript, 'The Lyon in Mourning'.
The manuscript is a collection of speeches, letters, poems, written accounts and transcribed conversations. It was compiled between 1746 and 1775 by Bishop Robert Forbes after the Jacobite loss at Culloden in April, 1746.
Dr. Davis presents some results from the ongoing 'Networking Jacobites' project, a Digital Humanities collaboration between Simon Fraser University's Centre for Scottish Studies and the National Library of Scotland.
