James Bain, waterman, father and epicurean is the newest and most familiar restaurateur on the Wilmington scene. No stranger to the area, his newest endeavor has been anxiously awaited by a loyal following from his fine dining days at Harvest Moon, connoisseurs of his Surf-Snack and Surf-Salt Seasoning Product Line and cameos at local eateries.
Nestled in the Forum on Military Cutoff Road, Epic Food Co. opened March 12, 2012 and marks a pinnacle moment in his life. It's an idea that's been brewing for the last four years and it had the opportunity to become reality when NOFO's closing opened a new door for the seasoned Chef.
Fast forward one month and it's the start of a new era for James. 'Lovin' Epic flavor and livin' an Epic life at the beach' is what it's all about. As a husband and father of three, flavorful and fit-food that's fast is on the forefront. Creating meals to delight the palette, keep up with the boys and 60 miles of boarding are all part of the daily menu he now extends out to the community.
Epic Food Co.'s kitchen opens at 10:30am serving up a fresh and flavorful lunch menu created to suit your day or dietary needs (many options gluten-free). Try a meal The Epic Way designed by Chef James B...the Zing-E flatbread being a popular choice or create one Your Way.
Kids (Grommets) enjoy a menu and room of their own. The Grommet Room, where no adults are allowed, provides perfectly sized tables and a showcase for little artists to display their sketches drawn on tray inserts. Children have caught on the to Epic life, taking ownership of their new environment and it's somewhat amusing when a four year old greets you at the threshold pointing a finger and uttering "Your not allowed".
Not to be left out, adults are invited to unwind in the with choice of cerveza or a glass del vino from 5-8 pm, Mon-Saturday.
Diners can also gear up with global and local findings and flavors from Epic Food Co's retail area. It houses everything from beach bags, body boarding DVD's to take home casseroles & dips to make daily life more flavorful and a little easier.
We're all glad James' was rescued when lost at sea; he has created a sanctuary in which to fuel this epic life we're all riding together.
