In "The Inner Circle" (1946), directed by Philip Ford, Warren Douglas stars as a private detective who lucks into hiring a seemingly perfect secretary, played by Adele Mara. However, when a notorious gossip columnist is murdered, suspicions arise about the secretary's true nature. As the detective delves deeper into the case, he uncovers tangled webs of deceit and betrayal. With William Frawley in a supporting role, the film offers a gripping blend of mystery and suspense as the detective navigates through a labyrinth of secrets to uncover the truth behind the murder and the enigmatic secretary's past.
