It was a week of emotional eye witness testimonies at the trial of Derek Chauvin, the ex-police officer accused of killing George Floyd.
First, the video that alerted the world to what happened on that street in Minneapolis was played to the jury. The full 9 minutes and 29 second clip showed Derek Chauvin with a knee on George Floyd’s neck.
Witnesses to the death of Mr Floyd gave evidence, including 18 year old Darnella, who filmed that video of his last moments. Her face isn’t being shown on the livestream as she was underage at the time, and the same goes for her young cousin who also gave evidence. The court also heard from Genevieve Hansen, an off-duty paramedic that day who called 911 when police refused to let her treat Mr Floyd.
The trial’s expected to last a number of weeks and Derek Chauvin denies all the charges.
