Setting up my new Norwood Portamill PM14 Sawmill. The majority of the Norwood sawmill assembly took place in my garage which took over 5 hours. The installation guide had many typos and errors. Several parts were missing when the sawmill arrived and it took 2 years to receive them. Overall I am not impressed with Norwood and wouldn't buy another one of their products.
I was surprised at how involved the assembly and setup was. Now that everything is assembled and ready to cut, I am enjoying it a bit more.
This video shows the preparation for my sawmill and the first few cuts with the Norwood PM14 at my camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I used an Echo CS-4910 50cc chainsaw for the cutting. I used the stock Oregon chain. The first few cuts went pretty smooth, but the chain got pretty dull after 3 or 4 passes. I bought a Holzfforma G660 and plan to use that and a ripping chain going forward.
