The Red Bull Soapbox Race India, 2024, was held at the Ramnaidu Studios in Hyderabad on March 3.
What is a soapbox race? It is a race in which participants build non-motorised ‘motorcycles’ or cars, to race down a hill, without petrol or diesel. They use just gravity.
The race was judged by eminent sports personalities including chess champion Tania Sachdev, hockey player Manpreet Singh and racer Harith Noah.
How is a car built? It involves creativity and the participants have a lot of fun doing it. The Hindu went behind the scenes to meet some of the teams and get them to describe some of their colourful costumes too.
