My mother called, saying my father was insisting on cutting down a dead tree in the yard. She was worried he'd drop it on her house. I told her that if there's one thing--and there may be only one thing--that you can rely on my father to do right 100% of the time, it's felling trees.
Here he is, at work. Not so much as a scratch on the "Slow Children Playing" sign.
How does he do it? I have no idea, really. He's a savant at the applied geometry of precision chainsawing. You can see him at work, ciphering, in the beginning of the video. That's all he does to plan his course of action.
