When Russia invaded Ukraine, concerts and rehearsals were cancelled and many young musicians were forced to flee the country. Musicians from the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine were among those who had to leave, and seek safety across the border. But now some of the orchestra’s musicians are coming together again to share what music means to them and help spread a message of hope to all Ukrainians.
The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YsOU) founded by famous conductor Oksana Lyniv is a national youth orchestra that unites young musicians aged 12 to 22 from more than 20 cities and towns in Ukraine. We hear from 16-year-old Ulyana, 18-year-old Varvara, 21-year-old Nazar, and the Managing Director Alexandra.
